(see previous) (ANSA) - Brussels, January 21 - The foreign
ministry intends to "coordinate closely with the interior
ministry during Tuesday's cabinet meetings to evaluate how to
assist students temporarily abroad to vote long-distance,"
Italian Foreign Minister Terzi said on Monday. The European Union said Monday that Erasmus students must not face discrimination, but should be allowed to vote in next month's general elections in Italy.
Erasmus students from Italy, who are studying outside the country through the EU exchange program, should not be discriminated against, said a spokesman for the EU Commissioner for Education and Culture Androulla Vassiliou.
Minister Terzi stressed that "any solution must of course take into account the need to ensure equal treatment of all categories included under the 'temporary' umbrella".
