Carmine Schiavone is son of jailed boss 'Sandokan'

(ANSA) - Naples, January 21 - Italian police on Monday said
they had detained Carmine Schiavone, a mobster who was
considered the 'prince regent' of the infamous Casalesi clan of
the Neapolitan Mafia, the Camorra.Carmine Schiavone is the son of Francesco 'Sandokan' Schiavone, a superboss of the clan featured in Roberto Saviano's 2006 expose' Gomorrah who has been in jail since 1998.
"You did well," Carmine Schiavone told police as he was handcuffed in a night club in the town of Aversa to the north of Naples.
He is accused of attempted extortion aggravated by the use of mafia methods.
Francesco Schiavone is nicknamed Sandokan after Italy's most famous literary pirate.
He is one of the Casalesi bosses whose death threats against Saviano have forced the 33-year-old writer into round-the-clock police protection.
