(ANSA) - Rome, December 4 - Italians will spend on average
197 euros per family on food and drink this coming festive
season, farmers' association Coldiretti said on Tuesday.Merrymakers said they would be cutting back on Champagne, with 24% fewer bottles popped.
The consumption of caviar and exotic fruit is also expected to drop by 12%. Foods made in Italy will instead see an increase, partly as a result of the food festivals, Christmas fairs and farmers' markets selling typical local produce that proliferate at this time of year.
