Italy and Iraq sign treaty on judicial cooperation
Treaty aimed at developing closer relationship with Iraq

(ANSA) - Rome, November 27 - A treaty on judicial
cooperation between Italy and Iraq has been reached with the
goal of improving bilateral relations and judicial
collaboration.The treaty was signed in Baghdad by Michele Vietti, vice-president of Italy's Supreme Judicial Council (CSM), and Medhat Al-Mahmoud, president of the equivalent body in Iraq, the Federal Supreme Court. According to the CSM, the goal is to allow both bodies to exchange information and share best management practices.
During their meeting, they also discussed such issues as independence of the judiciary, the fight against terrorism and international crime.
