(ANSA) - Bologna, November 13 - Police in Bologna arrested
a con artist on Tuesday who allegedly tricked churches and
religious institutions into paying him "fees" for fake donations
made from overseas.Investigators said that 42-year-old Vittorio Casoni posed as an employee of the Bank of Italy explaining that a Swiss citizen had bequeathed the religious institution a "large sum of money" but a transfer fee was necessary to receive the sum.
Casoni was able to pocket up to 700 euros a day that police said he spent in bingo halls or on betting.
