Family of man killed in Camorra war calls for justice (ANSA) - Rome, October 18 - The family of a man shot dead when he was caught in the middle of a Naples Camorra mafia war called on the Italian government Thursday for safety and justice.

"We ask justice...and security that is not here yet, and perhaps never existed," the parents of Pasquale Romano said in an open letter to Interior Minister Anna Maria Cancellieri and published in the Naples newspaper Il Mattino.

"We ask you to ensure that this does not have to happen again".

Romano, 30, was killed Monday night in the street outside his girlfriend's home in Marianella, a crime-heavy northern suburb of Naples.

He had no criminal record and his parents and friends think he may have been hit by mistake during an ongoing Camorra turf war.

Cancellieri said she hoped to meet with Romano's mother, adding the published letter was "beautiful".

"It's an appeal that struck me deeply, it is a beautiful letter, I understand the tragedy," the minister said.
