Pope's vicar denies dealings with convicted ex-butler (ANSA) - Rome, October 16 - The pope's vicar vigorously denied any association with the disgraced ex-butler, Paolo Gabriele, who was convicted this month of stealing and copying the pope's secret papers and leaking them to an Italian journalist, sparking the so-called VatiLeaks furore. "They're all lies. The truth will make its own way," Cardinal Angelo Comastri told ANSA on Tuesday.

During the trial, Gabriele spoke of Comastri as one of the people in the Vatican with whom he had dealings.
