Mussolini painting at Italian high school sparks local ire
Restored 1937 portrait depicts dictator on white horse12 October, 20:12
The painting depicts Mussolini riding a white horse and brandishing a sword.
It was originally created for exposition at the Umberto I Technical Institute in the town of Ascvoli Piceno in central Italy after it was built in 1937.
Headmaster Arturo Verna said he sees the painting as "an allegory of Mussolini, or better still of the school system reform that the fascist movement wanted".
Local citizens have called for the portrait to be removed, calling it "unconstitutional".
