109 migrants rescued off Lampedusa
Dinghy found south of Italian island

(ANSA) - Rome, October 12 - The Italian coast guard on Friday
rescued 109 North African migrants including a woman from a
struggling 12-metre dinghy 70 nautical miles south-east of the
island of Lampedusa.Crossings from Africa have kept up a steady pace in recent weeks because of a spell of good weather. The migrants were taken to Lampedusa - closer to Libya than to Sicily - to be fed and identified.
