(ANSA) - Rome, October 9 - Ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi
said during a telephone interview with Italian television
Mattino 5 on Tuesday that there had never been inconsistencies
in his professional or personal behaviour.Referring to criticism on Monday by ex-Berlusconi ally Pierferdinando Casini, leader of the Union of the Centre (UDC), Berlusconi said, "I have never flip-flopped - not in my private, political or business life. I do not understand how Casini has permitted himself to say such unhappy and untrue things".
On Monday the secretary of Berlusconi's People of Freedom (PdL) party Angelino Alfano said that the former prime minister "in order to unite the center-right" was willing not to run for office in the next elections.
"I hope that the facts come to show that what Alfano says is true, but Italians are used to Berlusconi changing his mind," said Casini.
