Soccer: Inter on 'right track' after derby win
Stramaccioni wants team to keep balance08 October, 15:18
(ANSA) - Milan, October 8 - Inter Milan boss Andrea Stramaccioni said Monday that his side were on the right track to returning to the pinnacle of the game after beating AC Milan 1-0.
Inter won the derby spoils on Sunday thanks to a Walter Samuel header after four minutes, despite spending the whole of the second half a man down because Japanese midfielder Yuto Nagatomo was sent off for a second yellow card.
They are joint third with 15 points from seven games, four points behind champions Juventus, who won 2-1 at Siena, and fellow front-runners Napoli, who beat Udinese at home 2-1.
"It was important for us to confirm our good form and try to be on the right track to regain greatness," said 36-year-old Stramaccioni, who is rebuilding Inter after they sold veterans such as goalkeeper Julio Cesar and defender Maicon in the close season.
"It was nice to wake up this morning. We achieved a good result. But we have to keep our balance, like we did when he lost (last month at home) to Siena". Inter, who won an unprecedented Champions League-Serie A-Italian Cup treble in 2010, are taking part in Europe's secondary club competition this season, the Europa League, after finishing sixth in the Italian top flight last term.
