Italians turn to farmers' markets to beat crisis (ANSA) - Rome, September 28 - Italians are increasingly using farmers' markets to get cheaper produce to preserve family budgets according to a survey published Friday.

The report, sponsored by farmers' association Coldiretti, said 21 million Italians went to such markets over the last year. Almost one in two adult Italians shops there - seven million "regularly" and 14 million "now and again", the report said.

The trend was helping keep inflation down, Coldiretti said.
