(ANSA) - Rome, September 27 - Smoking could soon be banned
in sports stadiums in Italy if the interior ministry has its
way.Plans are in the works to introduce a smoking ban for the 2013-2014 season at facilities where professional leagues play.
While the "experiment" has been approved in principle by the Observatory of National Sporting Events, a division of the interior ministry responsible for safety in stadiums, details have not been finalized.
The next step is consultation with interest groups, said the vice president of the Observatory, Roberto Massucci.
He promised "in-depth field studies" with experts and fans on the issue.
