Oxygen tank explodes at Massa in Tuscany

(ANSA) - Massa, September 24 - An oxygen tank exploded at a hyperbaric therapy centre in this Tuscan town Monday, badly hurting a technician.

The assistant, 31, was sent to hospital with fourth-degree burns over 100% of her body after the tank blew off outside the hyperbaric chamber. She was admitted to the intensive-care unit of Massa hospital after her heart stopped on a planned trip to another hospital in Pisa.

Hyperbaric medicine uses oxygen above atmospheric pressure to treat a range of conditions.
