Telecom Italia, Fastweb in fibre-to-the-cabinet accord
Deal 'open to all willing to co-invest'

(ANSA) - Milan, September 14 - Italian telecoms companies
Telecom Italia and Fastweb on Friday signed an accord to work on
developing next-generation fibre-to-the-cabinet (FTTC)
technology.FTTC involves installing fibre up to a cabinet in a street, and the homes and businesses in that street use existing copper lines to hook up to the cabinet.
The accord, Telecom and Fastweb said, would be "open to all operators interested in co-investing in infrastructures and platforms".
