Italian police find 1.4 tonnes of hashish in Spanish lorry

Drugs estimated to have street value of 14 million euros

(ANSA) - Milan, September 4 - Italian police in Vigevano, near Pavia, on Tuesday confiscated 1.4 tonnes of hashish found in a Spanish lorry. The officers discovered the cargo - divided into one-kilo blocks - during a search after the vehicle owner had been stopped for checks. The hashish was estimated to be worth 14 million euros.

The Spanish vehicle owner was arrested on charges of international drug trafficking.
