(ANSA) - Brescia, April 30 - An Italian missionary in Brazil
was found dead Monday.
Father Luigi Plebani reportedly died of gunshot wounds at
the hands of suspected burglars.
Early reports said the priest was found hanged inside his
home in what police believed to be a staged suicide.
Plebani, 65, had been working in the Ruy Barbosa diocese in
the northeastern state of Bahia where the suspected killing took
place.
Originally from the northern Italian city of Brescia, he
had been working in Brazil since 1980 and was scheduled to
permanently return to Italy in the coming months.
