Prosecutors request to bring Sicily governor to trial (ANSA) - Catania, April 5 - Prosecutors have presented their request to try Sicily Governor Raffaele Lombardo and his brother for colluding with the Mafia, a court in Catania said Thursday. Lombardo and his brother Angelo, an MP for Lombardo's Movimento per l'Autonomia (MpA) party, allegedly swapped votes for favors with Vincenzo Aiello, a prominent member of the powerful Catania-based Santapaola clan.

Aiello was arrested in 2010 on a range of Mafia charges. Lombardo has denied the accusations. A motion to dismiss the charges was rejected last week. photo: Raffaele Lombardo
