'Vuvuzela-maddened' man rams bar with car

Vicenza resident 'blew top when revellers wouldn't stop'

26 July, 13:17
'Vuvuzela-maddened' man rams bar with car (ANSA) - Vicenza, July 26 - A man allegedly maddened by vuvuzula-blowing revellers rammed his car into a northern Italian village bar Sunday night, wrecking the place.

The man, 51, from a small town near Vicenza, reportedly marched down to the Coco Bamboo bar because the din was bothering him and then fired several shots into the air with his rifle.

But the bar-goers ignored him so he got his car and used it as a battering ram at least three times, police said Monday.

No one was hurt because they got out of the way in time.

The man drove off but later turned himself in at a local hospital.

Doctors said he is having tests in the psychiatric ward.
