(ANSA) - Venice, February 9 - An Italian confectioner hopes to enter the Guinness Book of Records next month by making an eight-meter high exact replica of the bell tower in Venice's St Marks square out of chocolate.
Mirco Della Vecchia plans to present his 8,000kg scale model during the 'Chocolating the Dolomites' event in the mountain resort of Auronzo di Cadore, March 5 to 7.
The record for the tallest construction in chocolate is currently held by a Belgian.
In building his bell tower, Della Vecchia will use more than eight tonnes of pure 'Calceta' chocolate from the town of the same name in Ecuador.
The chocolate will be mixed in a special industrial blender which will arrive in Auronzo di Cadore on February 16.
An eight-meter high mold of the bell tower has already been made and has a square base which is 1.2 meter wide.
Once poured in to the mold, the chocolate will sit and harden for several days.
After the mold has been removed, Della Vecchia and team of helpers wills sculpt the chocolate to obtain an exact resemblance to the tower in front of St Mark's cathedral.
Della Vecchia is not new to such feats and already holds three records, all involving constructions made out of chocolate.
