Soccer: Free panettone for Inter-Chievo
Fans get treat at first-ever noon match

(ANSA) - Verona, January 6 - Inter Milan and Chievo Verona fans got a surprise when they turned up for Serie A's first-ever lunchtime game Wednesday as Chievo Verona President Luca Campedelli offered them free panettone made by his company.
Despite the early start, some 20,000 fans turned up for the match which will crown Inter as so-called 'winter champions' with a game to spare if they win or draw.
Inter has an eight-point lead over AC Milan which is playing Genoa later in the day and has a game in hand over the leaders following the postponement of its match against joint-9th Fiorentina.
If Milan, bolstered by the arrival of David Beckham, beats Genoa, wins at third-placed Juventus Sunday and beats Fiorentina in the make-up game it could reach 40 points.
So Inter, boosted by the signing of Goran Pandev, only needs a point from its next two games to be top of the table at the mid-way mark.
