Serbia: ministry forecasts higher growth in 2018, 4.2%

Up from 3.5% previously estimated, in line with EBRD estimates

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, NOVEMBER 7 - The Serbian ministry of Finance said it has increased the country economic growth forecast to 4.2% in 2018 from the 3.5% previously estimated, the specialized portal SeeNews reported. The GDP growth in Serbia this year will be stronger due to "positive trends recorded in the first half of the year in the short-term macroeconomic indicators," SeeNews said, quoting documents from the ministry of Finance.

The economic growth in Serbia is however expected to slow down to 3.5% in 2019. SeeNews noted.

The new forecast is in line with the one from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which recently said that Serbia will record a 4.2% growth in 2018 and 3.5% in 2019. The International Monetary Fund last month forecasted a 4.0% real economic growth in Serbia this year. (ANSA).
