(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JUNE 21 - Hungary will create a "a
logistic base in Trieste to allow Hungarian businesses exporting
overseas to conduct shipping quickly and without hinderances,"
the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter
Szijjártó announced at the V4+ Logistics Forum today, the
specialized portal Budapest Business Journal reports, adding
that through the project Trieste will become "Hungaryʼs ʼsea
exitʼ."
Szijjártó added that the logistic base could cover a surface
of 32 hectares.
The idea is to facilitate Hungarian companies to reach the
Trieste port by road or rail within 24 hours with an investment,
also on infrastructures, between 60 and 100 million euros,
Hungarian media reported. Szijjártó added that the sales
contract to be signed in early July by the government, but no
further details were made available.
At the beginning of May, Italy's deputy minister of
Infrastructure, Edoardo Rixi, said on the sidelines of an event
in Genoa that "in a few weeks the Italian government will sign
an agreement to allow a strong Hungarian investment to support
the development of the port of Trieste and to strengthen the
harbor's relations with central-eastern Europe". (ANSA).
