(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 28 SET - Transmashholding-Hungary, a Russian-Hungarian consortium, will produce and deliver 1,300 passenger cars to the Egyptian National Railways (ENR), Transmashholding said in a statement. The supply contract between Transmashholding and ENR has a value of over one billion euro and it is "the largest deal in the history of Egyptian railways," Transmashholding noted, adding that manufacturing companies from China, Italy, India and Romania were among the other bidders.

According to the contract, five types of cars will be produced and delivered to Egypt in the next five years. Among them, 500 third-class cars with forced ventilation, 500 third-class with air conditioning, 180 second-class cars with air conditioning, 90 first-class cars with air conditioning and 30 second-class cars with air conditioning and cafeteria. "The project is supported by the Governments of Egypt, Hungary and Russia" and "personally" by Abdel Fattah Saeed Hussein Khalil el-Sisi, "the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt," the Transmashholding statement reads. "The parties - the consortium said - are confident that further improvement of trade and industrial relationships will make a solid platform for even more ambitious projects in future." (ANSA).
