(ANSA) - BELGRADE - The national Albanian Railways has launched an invitation for prequalification for two international tenders in the country this week, according to a procurement notice posted on the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) website.

Pre-qualification bids can be submitted until May 31 for the rehabilitation of the Durres-Tirana Railway Line and for the construction of a new railway line connecting the Tirana International Airport. The envisaged time for construction is 30 months from the beginning of the works. Funding for the two project comes from the EBRD and from the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF).

The Durres-Tirana line is at present the busiest section of the Albanian railway network, connecting the capital with Durres, the second larger Albanian city, as well with the major port. (ANSA).
