(ANSA) - TRIESTE - ''Trieste is Germany's third largest port'', according to the President of the Autonomous Region Friuli Venezia Giulia, who spoke on the sidelines of a meeting with businessmen in Trieste.
''It may seem a joke - she added -, but that is not true.
Trieste is now appreciated as maritime hub for the whole Friuli region, rich in manufacturing activities. It was important to open up to the East, both as regards the new relationship with Iran and the agreement with Bavaria. Speaking of Trieste as Germany's third largest port is not a joke, but it is motivated by the amount of trade - Serracchiani stated - that goes to and comes from that area''. (ANSA).
