(ANSA) - TRIESTE - Trieste harbour ''is closer to Bavaria than
Hamburg '', according to Bavarian president Horst Seehofer
Lorenz, who thus explained why the German region is so
interested in Trieste harbour, during the meeting with the
President of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia,
Debora Serracchiani, today in the State Chancellery.
This interest will lead to the signing of an agreement between
FVG and Bavaria in Trieste by the end of this year, so as to
develop co-operation in transport, research and culture.
The deal will focus on the development of the Harbour of
Trieste. This is what the presidents of the two regions decided
in Munich, launching a bilateral meeting and a forum discussion
with a panel of experts from both regions. Today's talks were
the first official meeting in the State Chancellery between the
president of Bavaria and the president of an Italian Region.
