Kosovo: Pristina will have its own phone code starting 12/15

But Belgrade claims that +383 is not 'international`

(ANSA) - PRISTINA - The government in Pristina has confirmed that, after reaching the agreements in the EU-mediated talks with the Serbian side in Brussels, Kosovo will get its international area code +383 on December 15. ''For the first time, Kosovo will have its national area code'' and ''all calls to Serbia and vice versa will have an international character'', the government said.

Kosovo will have its own code and the same rights as all other states. in consequence of this decision, all other area codes used for calls with Kosovo so far will be abolished, +381 (Serbia) +377 (Monaco), +386 (Slovenia). A position which is, however, contested by Belgrade. The Serbian government said the country code number assigned to Kosovo will not have an 'international but geographic character', related to a specific territory of Serbia, which does not recognize Kosovo's independence. According to Belgrade, this situation is similar to what happens in China, with different codes for Hong Kong and Macao, and in Britain, with a different code for the Falkland Islands. (ANSA).
