Hungary has become the 22nd ESA member state

Cooperation began in 1991

16 November, 18:24

(ANSA) - ROME, NOV. 16 - Hungary has joined the European Space Agency (ESA), which now consists of 22 member states. Accession into ESA took place on February 24, but the ratification process by the Hungarian government ended on November 4. The Hungarian delegates - the ESA announced - will participate in various programmes and committees starting December 17, when the first meeting of ESA Council is scheduled.

Hungary has a long history of cooperation with the European Space Agency: it was in fact the first country in Central Europe to sign a cooperation agreement in 1991, and became the first European cooperating state (ECS), by signing the ECS agreement in 2003. (ANSA).
