(ANSA) - TRIESTE - The main international forum for the
discussion of the molecular biology of the small DNA tumor
viruses, the 46th DNA Tumour Virus Meeting, is taking place in
Trieste 21-26 July.
The meeting, organized by the ICGEB and held at the Stazione
Marittima, will host over 300 researchers and world's top
oncologists who will give 120 presentations and 90 posters,
illustrating the latest findings in terms of the most efficient
tumour therapies and possible prevention techniques. It is
estimated that around 12% of all human tumours are caused by
viruses - the focus of the Meeting is on examining the role of
the recently discovered viruses in the formation of various
types of cancer.
The event has been held annually since the 1960s, alternating
venues between North America and Europe, and, since 2003 -
Trieste. The 2015 edition has been co-financed through the
Central European Initiative (CEI) Cooperation Fund, supporting
the participation of experts from Central and Eastern Europe.
