Germany: government towards suspension of the debt ceiling

(ANSA) - ROME, FEBRUARY 26 - The German government intends to suspend the ceiling on public debt, to allow the Laenders' to spend more, in an apparent opening to a greater budgetary stimulus for the European economy.

Bloomberg reported after an indiscretion appeared on Zeit.

The decision of Finance Minister Olaf Schulz would allow greater spending, removing constitutional obstacles. The measure, however, requires a qualified two-thirds majority to be approved by the Parliament. (ANSA).
