(ANSA) - ROME, DECEMBER 11 - "Italy deems the resumption of
negotiation between the two parties essential. For a positive
outcome of this confrontation, with a view to full
implementation of the Minsk Agreements, we intend to continue
working with European partners. I take this opportunity to
reaffirm that Italy's is convinced that sanctions are not a
goal, but just a tool aimed at starting the solution to the
Ukrainian crisis." That is what Italian premier Giuseppe Conte
said in Parliament, recalling that the European Council will
also address the six-monthly discussion on the state of
implementation of the Minsk Agreements, introduced by Chancellor
Merkel and President Macron. Merkel and Macron will inform the
European Council about the outcome of the Summit of the Heads of
State and Government of the "Normandy format" on Monday 9.
