Ukraine: over 2,300 election observers have been accredited

From 19 international organizations and 17 foreign countries

(ANSA) - MOSCOW, MAR 26 - Ukraine's Central Election Commission (CEC) has completed the registration of official observers for the presidential elections to be held on March 31. According to the press service, the Commission accredited a total of 2,344 observers from 19 international organizations and 17 foreign states. The Commission accredited another 324 official observers at its meeting yesterday. This latter number includes 129 observers from the European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations (ENEMO), 76 from the US National Democratic Institute, 38 from the International Republican Institute, 32 from the Silba Initiative for Dialogue and Democracy, 20 from the Committee for Open Democracy and 13 from the European Parliament. The committee also accredited 6 observers from the European Platform for Democratic Elections, one from the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America, one from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, 3 from Slovakia, 3 from Norway, one from France and one from Switzerland.
