Ukraine: protests in Kiev amid defense corruption scandal
Nationalists demand investigation

(ANSA) - KIEV, MARC 23 - Activists and supporters of
Ukrainian nationalist parties are taking part in a rally on the
Independence Square in Kiev. The protesters are demanding an
investigation into the alleged embezzling of budget funds in the
defense sector.
On 25 February journalists released an investigative report
claiming that Ihor Hladkovsky, the son of First Deputy Secretary
of the NSDC Oleh Hladkovsky, are allegedly involved in
large-scale schemes of embezzling budget funds in the defense
sector. On 26 February 2019 Poroshenko suspended Oleh Hladkovsky
from office, pending a criminal investigation. On 4 March,
Poroshenko signed a decree to dismiss Hladkovsky from the post
of First Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense
Council. (ANSA).
