(ANSA) - BOLZANO, NOV 21 - The government in Vienna intends to discuss with Rome the bill on the dual Italo-Austrian passport for South Tyrolean citizens. The introduction of the dual-nationality passport will take place only in agreement with Italy, Austria's government sources reported.

The interministerial group, which is dealing with the issue, met yesterday in Vienna, and put together some details of the draft, previously prepared by a team of experts. According to Tiroler Tageszeitung daily newspaper, the South Tyroleans who have declared themselves as belonging to the German and Ladin language groups can apply. The new Austrian citizens will be able to vote for European and general election. If they do not already have a reference municipality in Austria, they can choose one.

The next step will be a further meeting of the team of experts, which is likely to take place in 2019. Then the draft will be presented in Rome. The introduction of dual-nationality citizenship for South Tyroleans implies the revision of four laws. (ANSA).
