Croatia: 42% of emigrants have no plans to return

One in four things of returning after retiring

(ANSA) - BELGRADE - A great part of people who emigrated from Croatia since 2013 have no plans to return home in the future, according to a survey of the Croatian Employers Association (HUP), Croatian local media reported. According to the survey, around 42% of the respondents said that they have no plans of ever returning to Croatia, while only one out of ten said they consider returning in the next ten year. One out four respondents said that he plans to return after retiring.

Among the most common reasons for emigration, respondents included economic reasons and low salaries, poorly run state, political parties lacking vision, nepotism and political criteria in hiring people.

The research noted that the emigrants' age is low, with 82% of respondents under the age of 40.

Among the preferred destination of the Croatian emigrants, Germany, Ireland, Belgium, Sweden and Austria. (ANSA).
