(ANSA) - BRUXELLES, 04 GIU - NATO Secretary-General Jens
Stoltenberg announced today in Brussels, during a joint press
conference with Montenegro's Presiden Milo Djukanovic, that
tomorrow NATO will start a peacetime mission over Montenegro
with air policing patrols from Italy and Greece to "ensure the
safety of the country's skies". The former Yugoslavian country
does not have own military aircraft and has therefore asked the
allies for support. The start of the mission will also mark the
first anniversary of the Balkan country's membership to NATO.
Djukanovic gave particular thanks to Italy and Greece "for their
willingness to guarantee control in our skies". It is "a very
concrete benefit for Montenegro", he pointed out.(ANSA).
