Bosnia: EU urges Presidency not to delay electoral reform

Mogherini met Covic-Ivanic-Izetbegović in Brussels

(ANSA) - BRUXELLES, 01 FEB - "It is on the political parties of Bosnia and Herzegovina to address electoral reform without further delay to ensure that this year's general elections are held and implemented according to international and European standards", EU High Representative, Federica Mogherini, said today in Brussels during a meeting with the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dragan Čović, Mladen Ivanić and Bakir Izetbegović.

Mogherini and the three presidents of Bosnia and Herzegovina spoke about the political situation in the country and its European Union integration path, the European service for external action wrote in a statement. The European Union consider as 'urgent' the completion of the answers to the European Commission questionnaire to eventually open the negotiations, as well as the implementation of the reform agenda, including on rule of law. "Reforms need to be transformative for Bosnia and Herzegovina to progress on the EU integration path", Mogherini pointed out.(ANSA).
