Kosovo: Dacic, Serbia against US involvement in dialogue

Foreign minister does not believe in Rice, US special envoy

28 November, 14:11
(ANSA) - BELGRADE - Serbia will not accept any change in the current format of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, with the US involvement in the ongoing EU negotiation process in Brussels, according to deputy prime minister and foreign minister Ivica Dacic. In an interview with private television broadcaster Prva, Dacic underlined that US representatives have always been present in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, even though behind the scenes. The minister said at the same time that he did not understand why ''just one part'' should be involved in the dialogue. Talking about the recent press reports that former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice could become a new US special envoy for the Balkans, Dacic said he was unaware of these presumed ambitions: ''We need commitment to the Balkans by the new US administration, president Donald Trump, secretary of state Rex Tillerson '', Serbian minister said.
