(ANSA) - VIENNA, SEPT. 26 - Friuli Venezia Giulia as the Silk Road terminal and its strategic relationship with China made further progress today in Vienna. The president of the Autonomous Region of FVG Debora Serracchiani participated in the opening session of the three-day ''Bridge for Cities. Belt and Road Initiative: developing green economies for cities'' organised at the Vienna International Center by the Unido (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) and the Finance Center for South-South Cooperation. ''An important event on which we have been working for many months'', Serracchiani explained. Sustainable development in the cities along the Silk Road marks a turning point in relations with China, where the port of Trieste stands out as the only reference point in Italy along with Genoa in 'One Belt One Road', premier Paolo Gentiloni and Chinese President Xi Jinping said on the occasion of the Italian-China Forum. Friuli Venezia Giulia was the only Italian region that took part in it''. Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) LI Yong and Chairman of the Finance Center for South South Cooperation Cai E-Sheng signed the memorandum of understanding for the collaboration between the two organizations in the Belt and Road strategy which the Chinese government is strongly committed to. Moreover, the World Bank has already invested $ 8 billion in this project. At the end of the introductory meeting, Serracchiani had bilateral meetings with Li Yong and Cai E-Sheng, both attended by Ambassador Maria Assunta Accili Sabbatini, permanent representative of Italy at international organizations in Vienna. The following meeting with the Director General of UNIDO confirmed the special relationship between the Organization and Friuli Venezia Giulia, the president said, ''which allowed us to meet with China Investments first in Rome and then in Vienna, and I am hoping this close relationship will soon result in agreements''.
