(ANSA) - UDINE - "The deployment of 70 Austrian soldiers at
the Brenner border could be useful if they help to limit the
flow of illegal migrants from Austria to Italy", said the Friuli
Venezia Giulia president Debora Serracchiani. According to
Serracchiani, Vienna's decision "is contradictory, since we are
just registering arrivals of migrants returning from the
northern countries. In particular in Friuli Venezia Giulia".
A 25-year-old Afghan citizen, resident in Austria, was arrested last night for facilitating illegal immigration near the Tarvisio border crossing (Udine). The man was surprised by a Carabinieri patrol just after bringing four illegal immigrants from Austria to Italy.
