22 December, 12:54

(ANSA) - TRIESTE - The Central European Initiative (CEI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Migration, Asylum, Refugees Regional Initiative (MARRI) - a regional body which unites six Western Balkan countries who are also CEI members (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, Macedonia and Serbia)around the issue of managing migration flows.

The Memorandum foresees enhancing the exchange of information and expertise in migration management of the two organisations, with the aim of addressing the need to move from the current emergency approach to a structural establishment of adequate assistance capacities in the region.

The signature took place in the framework of the international conference focusing on migration and refugee flows in transit countries, held in Skopje under the Macedonian CEI Presidency. Representatives of the OSCE, UNHCR, International Organization for Migrations (IOM) and of the Ministries of Interiors and of Foreign Affairs of CEI Member States participated in the event. (ANSA).
