(ANSA) - BERLIN - The German government will send up to 650 soldiers to Mali to ensure peace and support France in the fight against Isis, according to Defence Minister Ursula von der Leyen, who spoke during a session of the Defence Committee of the Bundestag. At the same time, German army's commitment to training Kurdish Peshmerga fighters in Iraq will be exhanced, by increasing the number of soldiers from 100 to 150. The two proposals made by the government must now be passed by the Bundestag. German intervention in Mali consisted, so far, in the deployment of 200 soldiers in the southern African country, a relatively peaceful area. (ANSA).
