(ANSA) - BRUSSELS - The EC calls on Croatia not to leave the international arbitration over the maritime border with Slovenia, in North Adriatic Sea. ''The European Commission does not see an alternative to the arbitration process and strongly encourages Croatia to be part of it'' the EC spokeswoman Mina Andreeva said today in Brussels.

''We do understand the concerns of the Croatian authorities about the alleged events that led to the resignation of the Slovenian member of the court'', added Andreeva, reporting that ''the EC has expressed their concerns in a letter written by the Vice-President Frans Timmermans and addressed to Croatian Deputy Prime Minister Vesna Pusic, about the country's intention to unilaterally withdraw from the arbitration with Slovenia''.(ANSA).
