Serbia's Conservatives holds 50,5% of votes, poll shows

Socialist Party second with 11%

(ANSA) - BELGRADE - The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), led by the Conservative Prime Minister, Aleksandar Vucic, and including the President, Tomislav Nikolic, continues to monopolize the political consensus in Serbia. The latest poll conducted by Faktor Plus Institute shows that 50.5% of voters would choose SNS if they were to vote today, followed at a great distance by the Socialist Party (SPS) of the Foreign Affairs Minister, Ivica Dacic, with 11%.

Together with the Democratic Party (DS) with only 5.9%, these are the only parties which would obtain enough votes to enter Parliament. All the other parties, including the New Democratic Party (NDS) of the former President, Boris Tadic, would remain below the 5% threshold according to the poll.

The analysts stressed that the vast popularity of the largest party in the government coalition has been resisting the test of time and was not shaken even by the announcements of forthcoming 10% salary and pension cuts in public sector. (ANSA).
