(ANSA) - BELGRADE, NOVEMBER 5 - Two major Chinese banks are planning to open offices and do business in Greece, Greek media reported today. According to the daily Kathimerini, the Bank of Greece has already informed the Greek ministry of Development that Bank of China (Europe) Luxembourg and the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Europe) SA, also based in Luxembourg, are expected to open representative offices in Athens.

In August 2019, the Bank of China's head of European operations, Zhou Lihong, announced that the Bank will open a branch in Greece by the end of the year, Kathimerini reported at that time, recalling that Bank of China is the fourth largest bank in the world by assents and already operates branches in Luxembourg, in the United Kingdom, in France, Germany, Italy and Hungary.
