Albania's President, let's resume Kosovo-Serbia dialogue

'Pristina has the right to an army, but it is a gradual process'

(ANSA) - BRUSSELS - Serbia and Kosovo should "resume dialogue to achieve a legally binding agreement, which is lasting, feasible, and recognizes Kosovo's independence and irreversible sovereignty," said Albanian president Ilir Meta during a joint press conference in Brussels with Nato secretary-general Jens Stoltenberg.

During his talks with Stoltenberg, Meta "encouraged the continuity of the Nato mission in Kosovo," supporting "the legitimate right" of Pristina "to gradually transform the Kosovo Security Force into a regular army through a legal, transparent and democratic process." The Albanian president has then mentioned the European leaders' failure to decide to start negotiations for Albania's and North Macedonia's entry into the EU. "We (he and Stoltenberg, ed) expressed our disappointment", but Tirana is "determined to redouble its efforts to achieve this strategic goal," and ensure that "the Balkans remain a western-oriented area."(ANSA).
