(ANSA) - TRIESTE - Foreign Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Miro Cerar, met Senator Tatjana Rojc (PD, Democratic Party), representative of the Slovenian minority in the Italian Parliament, in Ljubljana. During the talks, according to a press release, issues of common interest were addressed, such as the migration phenomenon affecting the two countries, the reactivation of the mixed police patrols on the Italian-Slovenian border, the continuation of the Schengen treaty. Senator Rojc, according to the press release, explained to the Slovenian minister the constitutional reform recently approved in Italy which, she explained, "has reduced the number of parliamentarians and can have very negative effects on the representation of the Slovenian minority in the Italian Parliament", adding that "the new electoral law will be a very important and delicate step". Concerning the upcoming bilateral meetings of Slovenia, with the summit of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and the Italian Foreign Minister, Minister Cerar and Senator Rojc said they intend to keep an informal communication channel always open.
