(ANSA) - BELGRADE, AUGUST 31 - Croatia has awarded four
companies the permission to carry out hydrocarbon exploration
and exploitation at six locations in the country, the Croatian
government has announced.
The chosen companies are INA, Crodux Derivati Dva, Vermilion
Zagreb Exploration and Aspect Croatia, local media reported.
The companies will operate in northeastern Croatia, in the
western Slavonia region, an area bordered by the Danube, Drava
and Sava rivers, and will be able to drill 25 exploitation wells
in two phases, the specialized portal SeeNews reported.
The activities of the four companies represent "the largest
exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons campaign in Croatia
in the last 20 years," the minister of Environment protection
and Energy Tomislav Coric said in a statement. (ANSA).
