Poland: Trump, Duda and Steinmeier at WWII cerimonies

German, Polish presidents to pay tribute to civilian victims

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 26 AGO - The Polish president Andrzej Duda, his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier and the American president Donald Trump will give speeches in Warsaw at the ceremonies marking the outbreak of World War II, on September 1, the head of the Polish presidential office announced, the Polish news agency Pap reported.

The main commemorations for the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the conflict will be held in Warsaw, with 40 delegations and 250 guests from around the world expected. The leitmotif of the presidential speeches will be "memory and warning," Pap noted. The same day, the German and Polish presidents will pay tribute to civilians victims of the war in the town of Wielun, the first Polish city struck by German forces in 1939. On September 2, Duda and Trump will held bilateral talks, with the US president meeting also the prime minister Morawiecki and government officials. (ANSA).
